I installed this for my 2 year old to ride with me. He loves it the installation was somewhat tricky but the safety is so far fantastic.

Great seat--we love it. Just make sure your bike has the appropriate braze-ons for intstalling a rear rack. I had to get a new bike because mine didn't. Two different bike shops told me it's not safe to use an adaptor to install the seat--you need the factory installed braze-ons!

We purchased the seat for our 17 month old. We are not avid bikers, but like to ride our bikes and take him to the park. It took a little bit of figuring out to get the rack mounted properly, but it didn't seem to be too much of a hassle. From the handful of times we've used it so far, we love it and he loves it! It seems sturdy and safe, and we like having him close behind us. The only negative for him goes along with using a seat instead of a trailer: he sits pretty close to our backs and therefore can't see out further (particularly if we have a backpack on). However, he doesn't seem to mind and often asks to go for a bike ride. We bought through Amazon and were extremely pleased with how quickly it arrived to us! (ordered it in the afternoon, chose 3-5 day delivery, and it arrived the next morning before 9:00)
Customer rating is 4 of 5  Sturdy and secure bike seat   2010-03-22

The good news.

The seat is great - my 25lb 11mo fits well, and apart from him not being keen on his helmet, he happily hung out in the seat on his first ride, singing away to himself.
It fits securely to the rack, and while I was able to do it on my own, I'd prefer a second body to hold onto the bike while I'm clicking things into place.
Everything is adjustable, and it'll get a good fit for most kids.

Long term, this will be a great addition to our family, and we're looking forward to enjoying it all summer for the next year or two.

The bad news.

The instruction manual, as others have noted, isn't very clear - but take things slow and it should be ok.
The real kicker for me were the cruddy bolts it shipped with. I stripped several trying to install this. My bike had no clearance between the bottom cog on my gears and the head of the bolt holding the rack on (I went with the bolt head on the inside of the frame for the lowest profile fit - still no joy) - and in trying to remove it, I stripped bolts. I almost had to drill one back out after the threads screwed themselves off.

But I was able to do it eventually - DO NOT over tighten, or you will be stuck.
Customer rating is 5 of 5  Safe in a crash   2010-03-21

We've had this seat for a while. I always thought it was a good product until today. Now I think its a great product. After about 10 miles of cycling today, the rear wheel on my bike dislodged (no idea how it got loose) and the frame and derailer came down on the spokes. It felt like the back wheel had seized but it was partly sideways and I couldnt control the bike. So we hit the ground. I immediately turned around to see my four year old sitting quite unperturbed in the back. The combination of the seat belt, the guard and the sides of the bike seat, coupled with the helmet meant that everything worked as it should and she didnt have a scratch.
Our bike is junk -but Im keeping the seat!
Any complaints? - its small but I find the velcro foot restraints very annoying to get on/off. And there is a thumb-trapping danger when removing the seat, which I do a lot as we take the bikes on the car to go to fun destinations.
