Description
For the reason that he is slightly less hyperactive than his brother MUDFLAP, AUTOBOT SKIDS has always thought of himself as the smart one. He likes to point this out at each opportunity. While MUDFLAP zips all-around like a maniac, AUTOBOT SKIDS prefers to impress his superiors among the AUTOBOT high command by behaving in a way he thinks of as mature, which usually involves talking nonstop concerning anything this occurs to him.
Customer Reviews
Customer rating is 4 of 5  Not for 4 year olds. Good in theory, execution needs work.   2010-05-08

To be honest, I'm a little bit shocked at all the reviews of people that can't transform Skids even with instructions. Yes, I needed instructions my first couple times (I'm in college, FYI, not 10 years old), but after that I got it down pretty well.

I will say that the clips to secure everything in the right position for car mode are less than stellar... to put it nicely. It definitely takes some patience to get all the cracks sealed so it can roll without feet sticking out. That said, conceptually it is one of my favorite transformers: It has a unique transformation that really makes use of the space provided, and I like the compactness of the robotmode. I also like the little things like folding in the windows or his chest that make it feel that little bit more complex and intricate without actually being essential or anything.

Overall, I wish they'd design more transformers similar to Skids, so long as they actually clip everything into place properly. For now I'm happy keeping him in Robot mode sitting on my desk, but I don't transform him as much as my other toys because car mode isn't worth the effort anymore. It was good for $12 while it lasted.
Customer rating is 1 of 5  Flimsy Product   2010-01-07

Ordered this product for a 4 year old. Believe he was too young to understand how to change from car to robot. Toy was broke the first day.
Customer rating is 1 of 5  Not worth it   2009-12-26

This toy was purchased for my 4 yr old who will be 5 in February. Neither my husband and I can successfully follow the paper instructions and my son has no interest in learning either, it's too hard. The "ages 5+" statement is totally misleading. I will be following another reviewers advice and view the instructions on youtube. This toy was pretty disappointing! We also have lower level Optimus Prime, Grimlock and Bumblebee. Bumblee is the only one my 4 yr old and 2.5 yr old enjoy because he really does transform easily. I can do Grimlock if I'm careful, but Optimus has me stumped. Grimlock's main problems are the fact that his little plastic parts often snap open when you're tryiny to transform him, not that the actual transformation instructions are tricky. I figured him and Bumblebee out without instructions. Optimus, well, I may have to look at his instructions. I've almost got it worked out...but it's more like me playing with rubik's cube than my boys enjoying their long-awaited transformers....
Customer rating is 2 of 5  too difficult   2009-11-18

This transformer, and most of the others, are just too difficult to play with. they are hard to transform. It took some intelligent adults looking at the diagram for 30 minutes just to transform it once. the pieces pop off easily and it will not last long. I would not recommend to anyone.
Customer rating is 2 of 5  Not a good choice for 5 year old   2009-09-29
By Kirsten (Oakland, US, Canada)
I bought this for my son's 5th birthday because the age is listed as 5+. It is so hard to change it into the robot, I can't even figure it out with the instructions and I'm an engineer. Lots of frustration and disappointment for my 5 year old. Maybe for a 10 year old, but not for 5.
